I've been crocheting for a long time, but I'm new to Amigurumi. I've recently purchased your Dress Up Dolls book and I'm looking forward to getting started on my first doll. DK or 3 weight yarn isn't a popular weight in Canada, and I'd like to use worsted (4) yarn. Do you have any advice for adapting the pattern to worsted (4) yarn so I can still achieve the correct size doll and clothes that will fit? One strand only? 2 strands with a smaller hook?
ReplyDeleteDress Up Dolls:
ReplyDelete1. Use worsted (no. 4) yarn ** the finished dolls will be a little bit bigger than using DK (no.3) yarn.**
For the Dolls (where patterns call for 2 strands of yarn) crochet 2 strands of yarn and 6 mm hook.
For clothes (where patterns call for one strand of yarn) crochet 1 strand of yarn and 5 mm hook.
Estimate Doll size made from worsted (no. 4) yarn = 18-19 inches.
2. Use sport, 4 ply (no. 2) yarn **the finished dolls will be a little bit smaller than using DK (no.3) yarn.**
For the Dolls (where patterns call for 2 strands of yarn) crochet 2 strands of yarn and 4 mm hook.
For clothes (where patterns call for one strand of yarn) crochet 1 strand of yarn and 3 mm hook.
Estimate Doll size made from sport, 4 ply (no. 2) yarn = 14-15 inches.
